thrifted treasure

It has been a long time between op shop visits. Most of them shut over Christmas and a visit to the oppie with the kids is nowhere near as enjoyable as the solo experience. I decided to drop into an oppie that is barnlike with stroppy volunteers but has the occasional treasure. Compared to the happy chats with the ladies at my favourite oppie on my corner (who also put things aside for me) it is quite a terse transaction.

Today I found the Singer Sewing Book, first edition from 1969. The cover alone would have drawn me to it but the tips and illustrations are gorgeous. My other find was something I have not seen before - a Shred Master.  Made in Italy, it is a manual food processor with lots of attachments and a suction cup mechanism that holds it firmly to the bench top. Two treasures that are both useful and beautiful.

  1. I have a gadget similar to the shred master - it is the same red, has the same suction mechanism for stability and is also made in Italy. It is a different machine though - mine is more like a large mouli. I use it to pulp tomatoes for sauce. Definitely same manufacturer, I'd say. I bought mine new - so clever you!

  2. It all looks familiar, especially the Singer sewing book.
The pattern is reminiscent of some of the shirts I've still got; however my all time polyester favorite "Sheep Shirt" (my wife remembers it), mysteriously disappeared, years ago!
